Megan is from what they call the "Friendliest City in the South" aka Luverne, Alabama. She recently just made the move to Montgomery, Al with her amazing, outdoorsy husband, Mitch Florence and their precious fur baby, Charlie. She graduated from The University of Alabama (Roll Tide-from Megan) with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development Family Studies. After college, she got the travel bug and decided to move her wagons west. She lived in both Tahoe City, California and Vail, Colorado for two short seasons. Being surrounded by these incredible landscapes at the time, was definitely the spark of her interest in photography. Her time there was short and special, but she wanted to capture it all so she could live in those moments forever. So inspired, she moved back south to chase this exciting new dream of hers. She interned with a very talented photographer in the Atlanta area for six months and then went out on her own. Not too long after, she crossed paths with the one and only Kim Box at a wedding and couldn't be happier to be a part of such wonderful, creative team.
Thoughts from Megan, "With my photography, I strive to not solely capture but also transform authentic moments into an art that will hopefully be cherished for a lifetime. I have a passion for people and a keen eye for attention to detail. Photography is more than a career to me, it is an opportunity for me to help people connect with their own unique, natural beauty."

What is your biggest inspiration?
I really get inspired by traveling and being in nature. Beautiful landscapes, and natural light give me all the feels!
What are you other passions besides photography?
Brace yourselves peeps because this might be a long one…I consider myself a pretty passionate person and have quite a list but will limit myself as much as I can control. After only knowing me for a few weeks, one of my co-workers (LJ) said to me, “You know what you love so well, and are not ashamed of sharing it with the world.” That was the first time I had really thought about it.. and she was right.
With that being said, DANCE was my first passion before photography. It was literally my life growing up and I loved it! (still do, but my body doesn’t quite move and stretch like it once did haha)
I also love NATURE, especially the ocean. The feeling that I get when I look out to an endless horizon with only this incredibly massive body of water in sight is like no other and completely indescribable for me.
MUSIC is another passion of mine that speaks to my soul! There is nothing better to me than being at an awesome venue, hearing live music that I love.
Now to talk about my weak spot… FASHION almost breaks my bank account every month. I love expressing my style through my wardrobe. I will say though, it is not about the label to me, just simply whether I like it or not.
I am also very passionate about PEOPLE.. I am definitely a “peoples’ person” and will do almost anything for the ones I love.
Last, but not least.. (told ya this was going to be a long one) ALABAMA FOOTBALL! Because of my other passions, this one usually surprises people, but I LOVE football especially the Crimson Tide. I guess I blame this one on my dad. He coached football while we were growing up, and I was always in his office watching film and learning the plays he would draw up. However, he is an Auburn fan.. sorry dad but I will be saying Roll Tide ’Til I Die!
What animal would you be and why?
Definitely a dolphin. They are always so happy and get to swim in the ocean all day.. #dreams
What can we catch you doing in your spare time? Hobbies?
In the little spare time I usually have, I try to stay fit by working out or teaching a dance fitness class. I also enjoy spending quality time with family and friends.
What is your favorite color?
You might call me crazy, but I really don’t have one.. However, I do love neutrals and earthy tones.
What is your favorite tv show?
Still a loyal Grey’s Anatomy fan over here! We are now in Season 15, and I think I have seen all the previous seasons at least 3 times. A few others that I love are: Friends (duh), This is Us, Stranger Things, How to Get Away with Murder, Ozark, and forever fan of The OC.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
I don’t know if it is the best advice I have ever received, but it has for some reason stuck with me through the years. My 8th grade science teacher told our class one day, “Remember, It is always easier to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission.” Like I said.. I don’t know if it is the best, but I will never forget it haha.
Cats or dogs?
Dogs for sure, but I will say I don’t consider myself a “dog person” like some. I love my sweet fur baby more than anything, but I don’t love all dogs #tbh :D
If you weren't a photographer, what would you do?
Probably be a travel agent.. that would also tag along on all your trips ;)
What is your favorite word?
Minimalism. At its core, minimalism is the intentional promotion of the things we most value and the removal of everything that distracts us from it. It is a life that forces intentionality, and as a result, it forces improvements in almost all aspects of your life.
Which store would you like to max out your Credit Card?
Do I have to pick just one?! I guess I would have to go with TJMaxx. Love me some TJ!
Did you have a childhood nickname?
Yes, most my little cousins and family would call me Mae Mae. When I got a little older, friends and teachers call me by my last name, “Sport.”
Some still call me “Sport” even though I am now married and have a new last name. (my husband loves when this happens ;) )
Sweet or salty?
Salty all the way.. I would choose fries or a pizza over cake or cookies any day
Any strange phobias?
I honestly have quite a few but will only share a couple so I still have friends..
I cannot stand when people touch my belly button. It makes me physically nauseous..
I am terrified of any masks or costumes.. and I’m not just talking about scary Michael Myers or Freddy Krueger, I’m talking Easter bunny or Big Al make me extremely uncomfortable and I usually immediately head in the opposite direction.
Thank you guys so much for taking the time to get to know me a little better! I feel incredibly blessed to do something I love for a living, and be a part of such an amazing, creative team that I consider family at this point. much love -Meg
